Teeth whitening is a simple yet effective dental treatment that can remove old, unwanted stains to brighten your smile. At Kevin Spees Dental, Dr. Spees and his dedicated team use professional-grade KöR® whitening gel to safely and effectively whiten teeth and restore each patient's radiant smile!

How does teeth whitening work?

The last time you walked down the dental aisle at a supermarket, a container of "take-home" whitening strips or gels probably caught your eye. These over-the-counter brands promise professional results for a fraction of the price. However, these products are typically not very effective, and the results can vary drastically from person to person. By the end of their treatment, most people find that they overpaid for a disappointing product.

At our dental office, Dr. Spees uses KöR whitening gels. These gels are made with a hydrogen peroxide base to break down stains and unnatural pigments from the tooth's structure. In essence, this allows the gel to "bleach" the teeth. This whitening technique is both safe and highly effective.

What is staining my teeth?

There are several reasons why your teeth are becoming darker over time. The most common cause is your diet. Long-term exposure to drinks like coffee, red wine, soft drinks, and tea can darken and stain your teeth. Foods can also have this effect – especially when they are colored with dark dyes. Some medications and poor oral hygiene can also cause discoloration.

For long-lasting results, Dr. Spees recommends limiting your intake of these foods and drinks. Daily brushing and flossing are also great ways to keep your teeth looking brighter and healthier longer.

What is involved in the whitening process?

At Kevin Spees Dentistry, we are happy to offer in-office and take-home whitening solutions. In-office treatments usually take between one and two visits, depending on the patient and the severity of the stains. These visits provide quick whitening results, so you don't have to wait around for a brighter smile.

For a take-home solution, we will begin by making a small applicator to fit your teeth. Once the applicator is ready, you will be given a KöR® whitening gel to place in it which should be worn once a day. Dr. Spees will discuss with you how long the applicator should be worn for the best results, as it can vary for each patient.
